Obituary for Maria Vargas
EDINBURG- Maria Vargas, 86, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Alamo, Mrs. Vargas had lived in Edinburg for most of her life. She was a member of Iglesia de Cristo in Edinburg, since 1969. Maria was a hardworking woman who devoted her life to her family and friends, those who knew her will remember Maria by her sharp charisma and smile. She enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with her family. Maria will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Vargas is preceded in death by her husband, Silvestre Vargas; and a son, Jose Trinidad Vargas.
She is survived by five children, Horacio (Olga) Vargas of Edinburg, Abisai (Maria) Vargas of Lubbock, Maria Magdalena (Macario) Narvais, Silvestre (Mary Jane) Vargas, Procopio (Luz Maria) Vargas, all of Edinburg; numerous grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Saturday, January 6, 2018, and from 4 to 9 p.m., Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home of Edinburg, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
