RUFINO GARZA, SR.
SAN JUAN – Rufino Garza Sr., 95, died Monday, May 22, 2017, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
Born in Alamo, he had lived in San Juan all of his life and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish. Mr. Garza was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II.
He is preceded in death by three sisters, Consuelo Garza, Jesusa Garza, Delia Acuna; a brother, Humberto Garza; and his parents, Juan and Paula Garza.
Mr. Garza is survived by his wife, Sofia C. Garza of San Juan; four children, Rufino (Alicia) Garza Jr. of San Juan, Nelda (Jaime) Garcia of Mission, Hilda (James) Williams of Frisco, Juan (Diana) Garza of San Antonio; six grandchildren, Yvette Aleman, Kerri Coduti, Jaime Garcia Jr., Caleb Garza, Darya Garza, Lauryn Garza; five great-grandhchildren, Alejandro Aleman Jr., Cassandra Aleman, Imagen Ordaz, Brayden Coduti, Kylie Coduti; and three sisters, Lucia Alaniz, Luisa Ramon, both of Alamo, Estefana Castillo of Edinburg.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Friday, May 26, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7473 of Elsa.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
