RENE OLIVAREZ
ALAMO – Rene Olivarez, 70, died Saturday, November 26, 2016, at his residence in Alamo.
Born in Alamo, he had lived there all of his life. Mr. Olivarez served as an usher at Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan Del Valle National Shrine in San Juan.
He is preceded in death by a son, Rene “Randy” Olivarez Jr.; and his father, Manuel Olivarez Sr.
Rene is survived by three children, Sandra (Raul) Martinez of Pharr, Jo Anna Olivarez of San Juan, Cipriano (Crystal) Olivarez of Donna; six grandchildren, Cassandra, Alexandra, Paul, Cynthia, Katie, Mia; 14 great-grandchildren; his mother, Julia Olivarez of Alamo; and five siblings, Elia Olivares, Manuel Olivarez, Imelda Carter, all of Helotes, TX, Nora Martinez of McAllen, Humberto Olivarez of Zapata; and his companion, Ramona “Mona” Murillo.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
